ETON COLLEGE
Cross the Thames from Windsor via the pedestrianised bridge and you are in Eton High Street. Stroll down the High Street and the tourist tat quickly disappears. All of the buildings at the other end of the High Street are part of the college – well worth a look.
In 1440 Henry VI founded “The King’s College of Our Lady of Eton beside Windsor” – usually abbreviated to “Eton College”. It is one of the oldest schools in England and its ancient buildings are part of the National Heritage. Between March and October there are guided tours on most days at 14.15 and 15.15. Usually the quality of the guides is excellent and each tour group is limited to eight people. Cost - £5.50 each. Visit their website at etoncollege.com
